You Can't Trick Tricky!

Hey ya'll sorry for the late post, I decided to sleep in yesterday because we didn't really do much. Yesterday was simply a shopping day at Mi Esperanze and the Valley of Angels. We also went to church services in Diamante.

You may remember the chairs we unloaded from the container.
Well they went to good use!

Virginias Pupusas!

In the evening we did have three people who lost items. We always have a good time when someone forgets something somewhere. My niece quite possibly was one of them on this night, and let me say I am the one that found the item. I did give her about 5 chances to find her missing item before turning it in though, haha.

Today was a wonderful day! Part of the team went to Didasko for painting, another team went to the hospital and a Gatorade blitz, and my team went and built a house out near the dump.

Our build today was far up a hill, thankfully all the wood was already carried up to the site. We built for a friend of our bus drivers Marlon and Norlan, it was a family with four children. The build went very smooth once we took down the electrical wire, haha.

At the build site.

There was a beautiful few from the site.

Scott finally is here and got right to work!

The crew in the finished house.

After we finish building we all always go into the house and have a dedication to the family, say a prayer, and give them a small collection of house warming gifts. Today the house warming gift included a few small stuffed toys for the kids. I wish that a photo could capture the excitement that those kids had when they were given the toys. You can look at the pictures I post but I promise you they do not do it justice in the slightest.

When we finished building and walked down the mountain we ran into a couple who asked for prayers of healing. They had gotten into an argument with their neighbor and the girlfriend of this man was sliced pretty badly with a machete. I would say she had 60-80 stitches on her back. Please pray for her. I will say that the sticking she had done did look as though it was well done and the cut looked clean.

Angel gave me her camera to get some photos of one of the other teams.

Gatorade Blitz. The workers love when we do this!
When they see our buses they are hoping that the day is a Gatorade day!

The festivities for this evening were a lot of fun! Tricky Pat was challenged to determine which of 4 coffee cups was white because he claims that a white cups coffee is not as bitter. Colby and Dan are the ones that decided to put this up to a test. So they blindfolded Tricky, we took up a collection for the work fund for people to come and watch as he took sips from 4 different colored cups. I will try to find the video to post it if I can because I know someone took a video. Until then here are a few pictures to keep you entertained, along with a little more detail about how everything went down.

Ready for the challenge! We collected donations for the work fund.

Where is your bet?

The master tasting his coffee.
You see that smile? He knows it's the white cup..
He also somehow knew that the blue was blue!

All in good fun but they did lose the bet.
Never doubt the Master!

Waiting and Waiting

Today we only had two groups. One group went to build a house and the other group went back out to Didasko for day two of VBS. We also lost about 9 of our crew today, the Florida Keys group traveled back to the US, but we also gained 12 new people from various different places.

This is how we say goodbye.

Yesterday's house build team.

So we had three places to go yesterday and only 2 buses....therefore one group had to wait at Villa Gracia until a bus came back. While we were waiting we had plenty to do for the hour, we had to break down food, practice the VBS skit, and bag up the food that we broke down.

Trick or treating

This little guy is such a hard worker, his birthday is Sunday!
He will be 2 years old, he has been such a blessing on this trip and we will
miss him dearly as he goes home today!

So we got to work and were able to finish all of the work we needed to do. Then we waited. And we waited some more. And we waited some  more. Finally around 11:45 we were given a little information about the bus, which was suppose to be back at 9:30. The bus had a flat tire which first had to get air in to allow the bus to go to the first drop off location and then it had to go and actually be repaired.

Finally  around noon we were able to get on our way out to Didasko. As soon as we arrived we had to unload some fresh fruit and food bags and get started with the VBS. Our VBS skit today as about Abram and the promise that God made to him about his family becoming a great nation.

Ryan and this little girl were such a cute pair the last two days.
He did an amazing job making her smile.

Once the skit was finished we had some time to play with the kids again. I spent most of my time with my two girls Norma and Rosa.

When we arrived back at Villa Gracia we were able to celebrate two birthdays. Connor who is turning 2 and Jenny Lovell who is celebrating her birthday. We had cake, fruit cobbler, a fruit salad, and fresh guacamole.

Today is going to be a relatively easy day. We will shop at Mi Esperanze and go out to the Valley of Angels.
