Sprint To The End!

Today we got back in the swing of things and are working on the final sprint of our Honduras marathon! Including yesterday we had three work days left and so much to finish before we leave this beautiful country. We still had 5 houses to build, concrete work to do, and painting to do.

Yesterday we had a team go and start on the concrete, 2 house build teams, and a small team that went out to Didasko to continue with our paint work there. I was on a house build team.

We pulled into Mololoa to see some Hondurans carrying wood to one of the work sites, luckily that was not my site, haha! The #TeamTricky team went for a little bit of a hike to get to our site, but once we were there the site was a very easy site. The ground was level, we did not have any rocks, we had plenty of room, etc.

We got to work with Dixon again today!

Noah and I's post-hole. I did break 1 rock in this hole but it wasn't too bad :)

Everyone took a turn babysitting today because we had this lovely on our build site!

I was very blessed today to get to see my boy Calvin. I meet him 4 or 5 years ago, however last year I was not really able to see him. I also got to meet his little brother Harold today! Harold is 2 years old and he is a cutie!

Pictures of Harold tomorrow or whenever internet is working. He is super cute so  you definitely will want to come back and see his cuteness!

We had dinner early last night and then we went out to a very old church building in Santa Lucia. It is the oldest standing church in the western hemisphere. This is the first year we have been able to go in quite a few years because they got a new priest. We started many years ago with a priest who loved letting us come in to worship there, the next priest did not want to let us in because we were not catholic, and then finally the newest priest is allowing us to enter again.

The outside of the church.
I have more pictures of the church and will try to post them another day.

We have only 2 days left, it is crazy to believe but we are going to sprint hard to the finish line and take advantage of every moment that we have left here in Honduras.

I have never seen a crab in Honduras until this year...We has now
seen 2 crabs! Matt was excited and he wanted to pick up the crab.

Internet is not loading today so I will try to post pictures either tomorrow morning or when we get back to the states.

Day Off

I don't have a lot to say about yesterday, so this blog post will be rather short. Sunday is always are day off in Honduras. We went to church in Diamante and then headed out to the Valley of Angels to do some shopping and eat lunch. We shopped till about 4:30 and then went out into town for dinner. We got back up the Villa Gracia around 7:45, had devo, and then I went to bed early! Here are a few pictures of our day..

Tricky and his yearly baby....I think he secretly holds
more babies then he builds houses.

Gavin responded to the message this morning.

This Honduran man also responded.

I hung out with these girlies at the Valley. We had a wonderful time walking around and buying a few things. :)

Its hard to believe we only have 3 work days. Today we are building 2 houses, doing some concrete work out at some ground that TORCH owns, and doing some painting at Didasko.

No One Can Steal Your Joy

Today we had a little bit of an easy day. We broke into two teams. A small group of about 17 people went to the dump to feed the people there and the remainder of the group went out to Didasko and played with the kids all day. A few people stayed up last night and cooked chili and mango cobbler to take with us and eat with the kids. We also gave out popcorn and cotton candy!

I spent my day with my girl Rosa, its hard to believe how much she has grown. If you look back at past years you can see how fast she is growing up!

A large bug that we found just after getting off the bus.

Every year she paints my nails. :)

Norma painted her nails.

Rosa painted mine.

If you ever want some kids to laugh just put on a mustache...they thought it was hilarious!

Rosa insisted on taking pictures of some of the toys that were given out.
Thank you Corbin and Kenny for giving up some of your toys :)

Rosa named this doll Randi after me.

Giving out cotton candy!

This man and his family are staying at the Didasko orphanage until October. He is making a documentary.

We played legos. :) Great activity because legos always has picture instructions.

My bus buddy. We sang songs all the way back...and she ate about 1/2 my food in my lunch box

Mango tree
Not sure what fruit this one is.

Here are some pictures of the people who went to the dump today.

The 3 amigos. I love all of these guys so much!

A man gave 4 lemps to a member of our team and insisted that we give it to Mark.
A days wages at the dump is around 7-8 lemps...which would be about 40 cents in the US.
This man wanted to make sure that he gave us a little something for the work we did. We tried
to give it back to him but he refused to take it back.

After the dump the group went to the special needs orphanage that is just up the road from the Villa.

I'd like to take a moment to ask for some prayers for this man. Dan has been traveling with me for the last 7 years. He is an amazing man....5 days before our trip he got back his cancer results, yet here he is. You would never know that he is battling, he has one of the best spirits that I have ever seen and he knows that God is in control of everything that is happening. Everyday he reminds me that
"No one can steal our joy."
